SFEL 2022 thesis prize awarded to Moulay Bachir SAHAKA MAHAMAN SALAH
SFEL 2022 Thesis Prize awarded to Moulay Bachir SAHAKA MAHAMAN SALAH for a thesis entitled ‘Study of the enzymatic hydrolysis of galactolipids using various chromatographic and spectroscopic approaches
The SFEL Thesis Prize rewards research work carried out in France to obtain a university thesis in a field related to oilseeds, fats and/or lipids, production of oilseeds, analyses, biochemical or physico- chemistry of lipids, transformation of fatty substances, non-food use, lipid nutrition, lipids and health… For the year 2022, it was awarded to Moulay Bachir SAHAKA MAHAMAN SALAH for a University thesis work entitled "Study of enzymatic hydrolysis of galactolipids by various chromatographic and spectroscopic approaches" and supported at Aix-Marseille University (Ecole Doctorale des Sciences Chimiques d'Aix-Marseille ED250).
The thesis work of Moulay Bachir SAHAKA MAHAMAN SALAH consisted in particular of the development of new non-destructive analysis methods using spectroscopic tools uncommon in lipidomics (Infrared, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance), to study the main membrane lipids of plants, galactolipids, and their enzymatic digestion. Specifically, he studied the hydrolysis of galactolipids by pancreatic lipase related type 2 (PLRP2), a digestive enzyme present in many mammals. This work has allowed a better understanding of the digestion of galactolipids, an important function in herbivorous species for capturing essential fatty acids, in particular α-linolenic acid.
The SFEL thesis prize will be awarded on the occasion of the Congress of the Study and Research Group in Lipidomics (GERLI) which will be held in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat from November 6 to 9, 2022 (for information click here), congress during which Moulay Bachir SAHAKA MAHAMAN SALAH will present his work. Come in large numbers to the GERLI 2022 congress and attend its presentation.
